What time period is that movie Pride and Prejudice based in?

I want to write a book based in that time period so I was curious and is it normal for older men, around 30 to get with 16-17 year old girls|||Pride and Prejudice is the book by Jane Austen. The original story was called First Impressions and written in 1796-97. Jane Austen revised the story and named it Pride and Prejudice. This was published in 1813 (January 28).





At that period of time, it wasn't unusual for young girls of about 18 to marry older men. Lydia's age when married was a bit young, even for that period, but not unreasonable.|||Why Don't you try reading the book darling. I'm serious, you'll get a far better feel for what it is to live in the time period. How the slightest touch and how it is critiqued by the class. Do it.

|||i believe it's the 18th century, in England.|||Think the time of the American Revolution , but in England which makes it a bit different.


Basically End of 18th century, 1790's|||It was set in turn the 19th century (1813 to be exact).





I can't answer the second part of your inquiry though.|||Pride and Prejudice falls in the Regency era.


Topics of the time: War with France, War of 1812, etc. Naval battles, Napoleon, and so forth.





I was working on a novel that took place in that time period, but its currently on the back burner. It's my favorite period of history.|||Late 18th century England (1700s).


Also, marriage at that time was more done for the social betterment and financial gain of the lady's family. Women were under great pressure to marry as soon as possible, and so love was often not a driving factor behind it.|||I am pretty sure that is not how it is in pride and prejudice. I think that Mr. Darcy is 30 and Miss Bennet is 25.





Anyway, it takes place in the 1800's.|||early 1800s so early 19th century. Regency era.
