Basically End of 18th century, 1790's|||It was set in turn the 19th century (1813 to be exact).
I can't answer the second part of your inquiry though.|||Pride and Prejudice falls in the Regency era.
Topics of the time: War with France, War of 1812, etc. Naval battles, Napoleon, and so forth.
I was working on a novel that took place in that time period, but its currently on the back burner. It's my favorite period of history.|||Late 18th century England (1700s).
Also, marriage at that time was more done for the social betterment and financial gain of the lady's family. Women were under great pressure to marry as soon as possible, and so love was often not a driving factor behind it.|||I am pretty sure that is not how it is in pride and prejudice. I think that Mr. Darcy is 30 and Miss Bennet is 25.
Anyway, it takes place in the 1800's.|||early 1800s so early 19th century. Regency era.
