How does the state of CA determine your weekly benefit amount?

Hi everyone. I have a question regarding CA state disability and paid family leave....I understand that they determine your weekly benefit based on your highest quarter of earnings in the base period, however do they look at the amount you made before or after taxes?|||they use a formula
