My boyfriend is in the army. Is there a waiting period after your license to getting married in the military?

My boyfriend is done with basics and he is in school so, as soon as he has time to, we want to get married. Is there a waiting period after you get your mariage license when your in the military? Would i be able to live on base with him even if i have a dog?|||No. All he needs to do is get premission from his CO to marry you.|||As far as a waiting period, you would have to check with the state you are wanting to get married in, the military doesn't deal with that aspect. Some people even get married in diferent states because of their rules and regulations on marriage and divorce. I would suggest becoming familiar with them first.

As far as your living with him, It depends on the AIT base he is at, if his school is 6 weeks, or something short like that they probably don't allow the wives to move out there, but as soon as he gets to his duty station you are free to move in and I don't know any bases so far that don't allow pets. but I have only been stationed at Bragg, Campbell, and Knox....|||inside base housing they usually have difference sections.

some are for family with pets some with out.

so yes u can have pets on base housing.

lets say u get married today but dont put in the papers in the military till the following month , he will be getting back pay starting the day he got married. so they only waitin u be doin will be how long it takes for the marriage license to get to you in the mail|||He does not need permission to marry you, that was the old army during the WW2 and Vietnam era that required soldiers to get permission from their commanders to get married. Today, a soldier can get married and he is only required to inform his chain of command so he can put his spouse in DEERS.

There is no waiting period after getting married before you can move in with him, his benefits are effective the day you and him tie the knot. There might be a waiting period in the county you are getting married in for getting married after getting your license but you need to get with them about that. Post housing has different rules for each base so you have to get with them about your dog and your boyfriend has to get on a waiting list to get a house which could be from right away to several months. If it is several months and you have to get an apartment while you wait you need to make sure the lease allows you to break it to move on post without a penalty. A lot of soldiers prefer to live off post anyway because they can spend less money on rent and pocket the remaining BAH while the housing on post takes all of their BAH.|||you get your license...then you get married (a courthouse can explain it to you)

after you are married he needs to take your marriage license to his unit and enroll you in DEERS (family medical) and he will have to change his dependant status so he can start collecting BAH. He can apply for on base housing (which you can have up to 2 pets in) but there is usually a waiting list. If you 2 dont want to wait for on base housing he can start collecting housing pay (BAH) and get an apartment off base. Make sure he checks with the off post housing office to see if the apartment complex has a good reputation or not.

If you get married after he graduates from AIT, you will not be able to travel with him to his base yet. You will have to wait until he has filed the necessary paperwork (giving him a copy of your drivers license, birth certificate, and social security card will help with this). Once housing is available or he has found an apartment, then you can move there.|||the only waiting period is the local one. the military has nothing to do with it./ some states require a waiting period of at least 24 hours after you get the license before you can get married.

you will NOT be permitted to live with him while he is in school. whether or not you could get base housing at his first duty station depends on several factors.. if he gets accompanied orders, and if there are any housing units available for his paygrade and BR entitlement. the waiting cast can be 2 years long to get into base housing.|||No pets on base. No waiting period. If you want pets you have to buy housing off base. You can't live with him on base until you're married, either.

edit - NO, you can NOT have pets on base housing. i live onbase|||The waiting period depends on state and local laws, not military. You can get married as soon as the state you apply is allows you to.

You can have pets on base, but you may have to wait for base housing, sometimes there is a waiting list to get on.|||The military has no bearing on wating periods. You must abide by the laws of the state in which you get married. Some have a waiting period, some do not. Check the laws in the state regarding what must be done prior to getting married.

You can live on base with him, even with a dog, as long as you are married and housing is available. Otherwise, you'll be granted BAH to help with rent off base.
