In the Air Force how to 2nd lieutenants apply for on base housing?

My fiance will be commissioning into the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant in May. He got his base assignment. Though, I know that it can change I was just curious how you can apply for on base housing. There usually is a waiting period. Also how long in advance should you apply for on base housing?|||Don't wait until you get there. As soon as you know where you will be stationed, get a hold of their housing office and talk to them. The housing I originally wanted here (Cannon) had a six month wait. They may need you to fax them a copy of your husband's orders. Ask them if there is a website that has current photos of the housing that a 2Lt would qualify for. Or see if they will send you some. Most housing offices I have dealt with have been very gracious if you are very nice to them also.

There are many places where you may want to purchase a home off base. I've seen a lot of bad base housing. Even though your husband is just starting out, his housing allowance and base pay should be sufficient, even if it's just a starter home. Keep in mind that even though officers tend to move more frequently, the AF is trying to cut back on the moves because it cost them so much money.|||Just like everyone else. You find the housing office and take a copy of your orders.Apply as soon as you get to the duty station. Waiting periods can vary from each base,
