What time period does the play "I ought to be in pictures" by neil simon, take place in?

not when it was written but what time period was it based off of?|||Well, if it has anything to do with Neil Simon's own life, then the teenage daughter would have been born in the 1950's or 60's, which is when Simon became a father to his two biological children during his first marriage.

However, those children might have been about Libby's age or even somewhat older in 1979, when Simon premiered the play, a few years before it became a film. As I recall, the film doesn't suggest an earlier time period than 1982, when it was released.

Simon's clearly autobiographical trilogy begins with "Brighton Beach Memoirs" set in 1937. He was born in 1927.
