Question about unemployment- when the new year 2009, does your quarters-base period change?
I was informed that the period would end of this year in June 08. When the New Year arrives, can I file a new claim and recieve benefits for work between the months of June-December of 2008?|||did your benefits already run out in June? benefit year is usually 12 months, not 6, although you usually only get benefits for 26 weeks - if you have already fully used up your benefits, but there is still time left in the benefit year, then you have to wait until the new benefit year starts and then the weekly benefit is recalculated based on your earnings for the new base year - if you haven't worked at all while or very little you've been collecting/during the new base year (which is usually the earliest 4 of the 5 previous calendar qtrs), when the new benefit year comes around (your dates make it too confusing to figure out when that is), you might not be entitled to any benefits or they will be greatly reduced from what you WERE getting. If your 12 month benefit year ends at end of december 2008, then the new one starting in Jan would probably look at your wages from Oct 2007 - Sept 2008
