What is the period of a base ten expansion?

is it the number of repeating digits OR is it the number of non-repeating digits?|||It's the number of repeating digits in the decimal.

If the period starts at the first place after the

decimal point, we have a purely periodic expansion.

Examples:

0123123123... is purely periodic with period length 3.

0.0833333 is not purely periodic but does have a

period length of 1.
